The South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands is an archipelago of more than 750 islands in the southern Atlantic Ocean. The Islands are situated 550 miles off the coast of Argentina, 750 miles from South Africa and 1,500 miles from the Falkland Islands. The country is a British Overseas Territory. The population is around 3,000 people. The capital is King George Island.
