Iraq is a country located in the Middle East. It is bordered by Kuwait to the southeast, Syria and Jordan to the north, Turkey to the east and Iran to the west. The capital and largest city is Baghdad. Iraq's population is around 37 million. Iraq has a mountainous area in the north and central regions, an arid area in the northeast, and a coastal strip in the south. The main rivers are the Tigris and Euphrates. Iraq is rich in oil and natural gas, but its economy is strained because of political instability.
