North Korea is an isolated, totalitarian country with a Leninist government. Kim Il Sung was the first ruler of North Korea, who ruled from 1948 to 1994. Kim Jong Il succeeded him and ruled until his death in 2011. Kim Jong Un currently rules North Korea as its third ruler.
