Bangladesh is a country located in the northeastern region of South Asia. The country shares land borders with India to the west and Myanmar to the north, and shares maritime borders with the Maldives to the southwest. The country has a population of around 157 million people and is ranked as the world's 16th poorest country by the United Nations Human Development Index.
