Central African Republic is a small and landlocked country located in the heart of Africa. The Republic has a population of just over 10 million people and an area of just over 1,000,000 square kilometers. The capital city is Bangui and the country's largest city is Brazzaville. Central African Republic has one of the lowest Human Development Index scores at just 62 out of 188 countries.The Central African Republic suffers from a high level of violence and poverty. There are armed groups operating within the country which have caused millions of dollars in damages and numerous casualties. Tens of thousands of people have been displaced by this violence and have sought refuge in neighbouring countries.
