Nauru is an island country in the central Pacific Ocean, about halfway between Papua New Guinea and Australia. With an area of 10 km2 (4 sq mi), it has a population of around 10,000. The capital and largest town is Nauru City. Nauru is a phosphate rock island, with deposits of tin, copper, and other minerals, but no oil or natural gas. The main source of revenue is government subsidies on phosphate exports. The president is Enele Sopoaga.
