South Africa is a country located in the southern part of Africa. It has a population of around 49 million and is the 24th most populous country in the world. The official language of South Africa is English, but there are also several related languages, including Afrikaans, Zulu and Xhosa. The country is divided into eleven provinces, which are further divided into municipalities. South Africa has a number of natural resources, including gold, diamonds and coal.
