Moldova is a landlocked country located in Eastern Europe. It has a population of around 3.5 million people and is bordered by Romania to the west, Ukraine to the north, Bulgaria and Serbia to the east, and Hungary to the south. The capital city is Chisinau. Moldova gained its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.
